Add Money to Your Account
In order to transact throughout the marketplace, you will need to add money to your wallet to cover the costs of purchasing data, as well as network fees (also known as “gas”). When the dClimate Data Marketplace is deployed to Polygon Mainnet, it will support USD coin / USDC for purchasing datasets. USDC is one of the most popular and widely integrated stablecoins, and is heavily regulated by the US Government.
However, the current early version of the Data Marketplace is deployed in a test environment. Therefore, almost all data is free to download so adding funds to your wallet is not necessary at this stage. The current paid datasets on the Data Marketplace only exist to test the purchase process and can be bought via free test tokens. If you would like to try it out, follow the guide below.
Testnet - Get Free Test Tokens
The current alpha version of the dClimate Data Marketplace on Polygon's Testnet (Mumbai Network) uses Test ERC20 (PoS) tokens. See the step-by-step instructions below how to receive these test tokens for free.
Step 1: Connect with your Web3 wallet
Before you can do anything, you need to connect to our Data Marketplace with a web3 wallet. Please refer to this page for detailed instructions.
Step 2: Open the account pop-up window
Click the top right corner with the 0x..... wallet address to open up the account pop-up window.
Step 2: Copy your wallet address
Your wallet address is an unique identifier, and is a shortened version of your wallet's public key. Click the "Copy Address" link to copy the wallet address.
Step 3: The Polygon Testnet Faucet - Select token
Go to the Polygon Testnet Faucet, where you can request free tokens for any of Polygon's testnet environments. The Mumbai Network should be selected by default, but it is good to double-check this.
Under the 'Select Token' section, select the Test ERC20 (PoS) option.
Step 4: The Polygon Testnet Faucet - Paste your wallet address
Under the 'Wallet Address' section, paste your wallet address. Then click "Submit". Please note that the screenshot below only shows the first 6 characters of the wallet address, due to privacy reasons. A wallet address on the Ethereum or Polygon Network contains 42 characters.
Step 5: The Polygon Testnet Faucet - Confirm
On the pop-up screen that appears, double-check whether the wallet address is correct and click "Confirm".
Step 6: Wait a minute to receive the test tokens
After a minute, your account on the dClimate Data Marketplace should be credited with 2 DAI (a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the USD). You can now close the Polygon Testnet Faucet website.
Paid datasets deployed on Polygon's Mumbai Testnet, such as the Tokyo Station History dataset, are now available to buy. Please note that this is simply to test the purchasing process.
